Stephanie Mills, who originated the role of Dorothy on Broadway in The Wiz and recently featured in the NBC live broadcast of the musical, is set to perform on Valentine's Day in a specially themed concert at the Beacon Theatre.
Mills will be joined by Grammy nominee Will Downing for the 8 PM concert on Feb. 14, titled An Evening of Love: The Valentine's Day Show.
Mills made her Broadway debut at just 11 years old in the 1968 production of Maggie Flynn. Less than a decade later, she booked The Wiz, landing the leading role of Dorothy in the acclaimed musical. She reprised the role again in 1984. After launching a successful pop career, in 1989 she returned to the Broadway stage in her solo show Stephanie Mills Comes to Broadway, featuring show tunes and a blend of pop and soul music.
