The 90-minute conversation will take place at 6:30 PM at the Times Center. Rich, the former theatre critic for the New York Times, who also penned the noteworthy 1971 article "The Last Musical" (based on his viewing of the pre-Broadway try-out of Follies), will interview Sondheim about his career and his latest book, “Finishing the Hat: Volume One."

Set for release Oct. 14, "Finishing the Hat" is a collection of Sondheim's lyrics from productions dating 1954-1981. In addition to published and unpublished lyrics from West Side Story, Follies and Company, the tome finds Sondheim discussing his relationship with Oscar Hammerstein II and his collaborations with composers, actors and directors throughout his lengthy career.

Additional TimesTalks include Tony Award-winning actor James Earl Jones, who will star in the Broadway production of Driving Miss Daisy opposite Vanessa Redgrave in September. Jones will sit down with Patrick Healy for the 6:30 PM chat on Sept. 20.

TimesTalk is held at the TimesCenter, located at 242 West 41st Street in Manhattan. Tickets are available by visiting TimesTalks.
