News Steppenwolf Announces New Developments in First Look Summer Series Steppenwolf Theatre has announced the line-up of playwrights slated for its 10th annual First Look program, a series of readings that develop new plays for future production at Steppenwolf and other theatres. Included is a new work titled Stupid Kid, commissioned by the company and written by Sharr White (The Other Place and The Snow Geese on Broadway).

The series will run Aug. 11-16 at Steppenwolf's upstairs theatre. The schedule also features a professionals weekend intensive and "First Look 101," offering behind-the-scenes access to the new play development process.

The line-up will also feature I'll Get You Back Again by Sarah Gancher, which received earlier New York City development and is slated to be directed by Off-Broadway favorite Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812).

The series also includes The Imaginary Music Critic Who Doesn't Exist by David Mitchell Robinson; The Fundamentals by Erika Sheffer, a Steppenwolf-commissioned play to be directed by Joanie Schultz; The Engine of Our Ruin by Jason Wells and directed by ensemble member and Tony nominee Amy Morton; and The Burn by Philip Dawkins, a Steppenwolf commission for young adults to be directed by Devon de Mayo.
