Wendall Greene by Jeffrey Mangrum is currently having its world premiere at the Studio Theater of Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre Company. Previews for the drama began July 25. The show continues until Aug. 25.
Tim Edward Rhoze plays the eponymous role, a man who spends his time planting trees and advising his young neighbor, Jimmy (Will Malnati), whose mother (Mayiann Mayberry) is too busy with problems of her own. Also in the cast is Terry Beaver, who starred in The Last Night of Ballyhoo on Broadway, Steppenwolf regular Robert Breuler (Carousel, The Grapes of Wrath), Darrell W. Cox, Joe Forbrich, and Wesley Walker.
Rondi Reed, who typically works at Steppenwolf as an actress, directs the piece.
