Oscar recipient and Tony nominee Steve Martin, whose play Meteor Shower heads to Broadway this season, will be honored at the Drama League’s 2017 Benefit Gala, A Musical Celebration of Broadway. As previously reported, the 34th annual event will take place November 6 at the Plaza in New York City.

In addition to Meteor Shower, which begins performances November 1 at the Booth Theatre, Martin co-wrote the score for the 2016 Broadway musical Bright Star, for which he shared a Tony nomination with his frequent musical collaborator Edie Brickell. In 2014, Martin received an honorary Academy Award for his vast screen career.

The evening will feature a one-night-only musical tribute to Martin from a number of stage and screen stars. A lineup will be announced at a later date.

Last year’s gala honored Tony winner David Hyde Pierce, who currently stars in Hello, Dolly!
