Preview performances began November 1 prior to a November 29 official opening.

The Jerry Zaks-helmed production, produced by Joey Parnes, Sue Wagner, and John Johnson, broke a Booth Theatre record prior to starting: with a figure hovering around $7.5 million, the show earned the highest advance in the house’s 104-year history. The comedy went on to hover around 100 percent capacity every week, and grossed above 90 percent of its potential in all but one week (due to a series of cast illnesses).

Set in Ojai, California, Meteor Shower follows married couple Corky (Schumer) and Norm (Shamos), who invite another couple—Laura (Benanti) and Gerald (Key) over for dinner. Soon, the two couples launch into ruthless Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?-esque psychological warfare—the fury of which is matched only by the space rocks falling above them.

Meteor Shower received its world premiere at San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre. A subsequent production played the Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut.

The production features sets by Beowulf Boritt, costumes by Ann Roth, lighting design by Natasha Katz, sound design by Fitz Patton, and casting by Caparelliotis Casting.
