Sundance has selected four works to be developed during the July 17-31 lab on the island of Manda, located off the coast of Kenya. Sundance has also announced that participants of the 2010 East African lab have ventured to New York City for a week-long theatrical intensive through April 25.
The selected works include Desperate to Fight by Ethiopian playwright Meaza Worku Berehanu; He is Here He Says I Say by Ugandan playwright Margaret Namulyanga; Mo Faya by Kenyan playwright Eric Wainaina; and Safari Ya Mwandale/Mwandale's Journey by Tanzanian playwright Irene Sanga.
The lab is run under the artistic leadership of Philip Himberg, producing artistic director of the Sundance Institute Theatre Program, and artistic associate Roberta Levitow. Visit Sundance.
