News STOMP To Appear on Outdoor "Ellen" Show, May 15 STOMP will appear on "Ellen," the TV talk show hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, May 15.

The percussion-based theatrical event will play as part of the Emmy Award-winning show's special "outdoor" broadcast to be shot in Los Angeles' Johnny Carson Park in front of a crowd of 5,000. "Ellen" plays on WNBC in New York at 10 AM (ET). Check your local listings.

The Off-Broadway run recently reached 5,000 performances at the downtown Manhattan venue Jan. 21. STOMP opened in New York City Feb. 27, 1994 and is now celebrating its 12th year at the Orpheum Theatre.

Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas created the wordless (and thus, universal) STOMP, the show about banging everything from Zippo lighters to brooms to plungers to hubcaps.

The show has spawned international tours and regional productions (currently performing in London's West End and on North American, European and Asian tours), an Academy Award-nominated short, the Emmy Award-winning HBO special "STOMP Out Loud," numerous television appearances as well as an IMAX film called "Pulse."

Among the accolades STOMP has garnered are an Olivier Award, an Outer Critics Circle Award for Unique Theatrical Experience and an Obie Award.
