News Stop the Virgens, From Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Karen O, Opens St. Ann's Season Oct. 12 Stop the Virgens, the world-premiere "psycho opera" by Yeah Yeah Yeahs' vocalist Karen O and designer-rocker KK Barrett, opens the 2011-2012 season at St. Ann's Warehouse Oct. 12.

Playwright and director Adam Rapp (The Hallway Trilogy, The Metal Children) directs the production that will run through Oct. 22 in Dumbo. Stop the Virgens is created and produced in association with the Creators Project and Mark Subias.

Karen O, who also wrote and performed many of the songs for "Where the Wild Things Are," appears in a cast that also features Lili Taylor, Money Mark, Jack Lawrence, Patrick Keeler, Brian Chase, Nick Zinner, Jason Grisell, Gillian Rivers, Yuiko Kamakari and Justin Kantor. Sam Spiegel and Nick Zinner musical direct.

Barrett is the production designer for such films as "Where the Wild Things Are," "Marie Antoinette," "Adaptation" and "Being John Malkovich."

Stop the Virgens is described as "an assault on the tragic joys of youth, fever dreams drenched in visual seduction, a cathartic spell spun through a cycle of nine songs."

The production has choreography by Mariangela Lopez, choir direction by Debra Barsha, costume design by Christian Joy, make up and hair design by Mike Potter, projection design by Darrel Maloney, lighting design by Keith Parham and sound design by Andres Velasquez.
