Classic Arts News   Strike Forces Cancellation of Oslo Philharmonic Concerts in Singapore

The Oslo Philharmonic has canceled its appearances this month at the Singapore Arts Festival because of a musicians' strike in Norway, Channel News Asia reports.

The orchestra was to appear on June 21 and 22, performing music by Gisle Kverndokk, Johan Svendsen, Sibelius, Mahler, Shostakovich, and Beethoven. Sarah Chang was to appear as soloist in Sibelius's Violin Concerto; Vassily Sinaisky was to conduct.

Concertgoers who purchased their tickets using credit cards will automatically have their money refunded. Those who paid in cash must visit the festival box office between June 16 and June 30.
