News Stu James, Carly Thomas Smith and Kyra DaCosta to Star in Pasadena Playhouse's Smokey Joe's Cafe The Pasadena Playhouse announced the cast and creative team for the musical revue Smokey Joe's Cafe – The Songs of Leiber & Stoller.

Performances begin Sept. 17 prior to an official opening Sept. 22. The production will run through Oct. 13.

Directed by Jeffrey Polk, the cast will feature LaVance Colley as "Victor," Kyra DaCosta as "Brenda" (Baby It's You!Sweet Charity), Thomas Hobson as "Ken," Stu James as "Adrian" (The Color Purple, Rent), Adrianna Rose Lyons as "Delee" (Rock of Ages, ModRock), Monique L. Midgette as "BJ" (The Lion King, House of Flowers), Robert Neary as "Michael" (Smokey Joe's Cafe), Michael A. Shepperd as "Fred" (A Raisin in the Sun, Little Shop of Horrors) and Carly Thomas Smith as "Patti" (Rent, We Will Rock You).

Smokey Joe's Cafe opened on Broadway in 1995, running for 2,036 performances and receiving seven Tony nominations. It also received the Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album. The production features 39 rock ‘n' roll songs including "Stand by Me," "Fools Fall in Love," "Jailhouse Rock," "Spanish Harlem" and "Yakety Yak."

The creative team for Smokey Joe's Cafe includes music direction by Abdul Hamid Royal, scenic design by Gary Weismann, lighting and projection design by Steve Young, sound design by Jon Gotlieb and Phil Allen and costume design by Sharell Martin.
