Tom Noonan and Yvany Peery, in association with the Choices Theater Project, present writer-director Lisa Ebersole's piece at the Paradise Theater, 64 East 4th Street. Opening is set for Feb. 22.
The cast includes Dahl Colson, Lisa Ebersole, Ken Forman, Rhonda Keyser and Monique Vukovic.
Those in the bus-station setting include "a young couple who cannot communicate in any real way, a woman obsessed with a childhood acquaintance and a married couple dealing with the trials of having a baby," according to production notes. "Their situations and most basic desires lead them to connect with one another. The play unfolds in real time, exploring the subtleties of human relationships and interactions."
Writer-director Ebersole writes animated short films for the kids' web site, Brain-POP. She wrote and directed three monologues for Mouth Pieces (2003) at The Paradise Theater. She currently studies writing and acting with Tom Noonan and is a member of The Paradise Theater Company.
Noonan founded the Paradise Theater at 64 East 4th Street in 1983. Drama Desk-nominated Peter and Vandy was produced at the Paradise under Noonan. In the past two decades he has written, directed and produced his work and the work of the members of the company. These productions have won two National Endowment for the Arts grants, an Obie Award, the Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize (Best Film),Waldo Salt Award (Best Screenplay) and the Silver Hugo from the Chicago International Film Festival, among others.
