Studio 54, the new film from documentary filmmaker Matt Tyrnauer, will premiere on A&E February 11 at 10 PM.

Tyrnauer explores the club’s history, its demise, and its influence on American pop culture through rarely seen footage and interviews with club goers who were lucky enough to get in. Also interviewed is Ian Schrager, who co-owned Studio 54 with the late Steve Rubell.

Rubell and Schrager transformed the empty theatre at 254 West 54th Street, built in 1927 as the Gallo Opera House, into Studio 54, which opened its doors on April 26, 1977. The space returned to its legitimate roots in 1998, when the Roundabout Theatre Company took over its operations as a Broadway Theatre.

The latest Broadway revival of Kiss Me, Kate, starring Kelli O’Hara and Will Chase, begins previews at the venue February 14.
