Variety reports that NBC may have to pay Warner Bros. TV, which produced the pilot, a multimillion-dollar penalty because the new series was "given a hefty commitment by the network."
Kenny Ortega directed the "Legally Mad" pilot, which was penned by Kelley and also featured Charity Wakefield, Hugh Bonneville, Jon Seda, Loretta Devine and Kurt Fuller.
The industry paper also reports that an ABC pilot that cast Guys and Dolls star Lauren Graham as a talk-show host is likely a no-go for the new season.
