Sugarcoated Haws on a Stick or Bing Tang Hu Lu in Chinese, is a special local candy of Beijing, a favorite of children. However, the play is not concerned with children. On the contrary, it deals with the problems of the aged. The play found an echo in the hearts of many old and middle-aged people because it led the audience to think deeply about this more and more serious social problems.

The play has been honored with several awards, including the 8th White Magnolia Blossom Prize of Shanghai for the best theatrical performing arts, and the Award of Five-A Project (note: Five-A stands for a book, a song, a film, a stage drama, a TV story).

The cast members include many renowned actors and actresses, such as Zheng Rong, Lu Qi, Lu Zhong, and Niu Xingli.

Sugarcoated Haws on a Stick is performed at 7 PM, at the China Children's Theater, Dong Hua Men Street. For tickets call 010 64932506. -- By Wang Ling
