News Summer Play Festival Now Accepting 2009 Submissions Submissions are now being accepted for the sixth annual Summer Play Festival, which will again be in residence at the Public Theater.

Under the leadership of founder Arielle Tepper Madover, the 2009 Summer Play Festival will run July 7-Aug. 2, 2009, at the Public Theater. Submissions are open to all writers of plays and musicals across the globe, with or without representation. There is no fee to submit. An application deadline has been set for Nov. 15, 2008.

SPF, which operates under the umbrella of Living Room for Artists, has produced over 70 original works, providing writers a financially supported protected environment in which to explore and hone their material with the aid of established professionals.

Works presented as part of the 2008 Summer Play Festival included Joe Iconis' The Black Suits, Billy Finnegan's Esther Demsack, Stephen Brown's Future Me, Jacquelyn Honess-Martin's Tell Out My Soul and Matthew Lopez Tio Pepe.

Among the artists who have been represented in the Summer Play Festival are Quiara Hudes (In The Heights), John Bucchino (A Catered Affair), Brooke Berman (Hunting & Gathering), Jim Knable (Spain) and Noah Haidle (Saturn Returns).
