News Summer Shorts Festival, With Works by Neil LaBute and Paul Rudnick, Launches July 26 Peter Bartlett, Stephanie D'Abruzzo, Edward Hibbert and Arthur French are among the actors appearing in the sixth annual Summer Shorts Festival, which premieres new short plays by Paul Rudnick, Neil LaBute and Wendy Kesselman, beginning July 26 Off-Broadway.

Presented through Sept. 1 at 59E59 Theaters, the annual event offers six one-act plays presented in two separate evenings of rotating repertory. Throughline Artists (J.J. Kandel/John McCormack) present Summer Shorts.

Casting includes Bartlett (A Free Man Of Color, The New Century), Tony nominee D'Abruzzo (Avenue Q), Hibbert (Curtains, Jeffrey) and French (Mule Bone, You Can't Take It With You), as well as Connor Buckley (In Masks Outrageous and Austere), Sarah Corey, Erin Darke (An Early History Of Fire), India Ennenga ("Treme"), Nick Gehlfuss (A Midsummer Night's Dream), Nancy Giles ("CBS Sunday Morning"), Kevin Greene (A Tale of Two Cities), Alicia Goranson ("Roseanne"), Jessica Hershberg (Baby It's You!), J.J. Kandel ("The Hurt Locker"), Megan Ketch ("The Wedding") and Victor Slezak ("The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants," "The Notorious Bettie Page").

Plays in Series A include Wendy Kesselman's Spit (directed by Jade King Carroll); Drive-In Dreams by James McLure (directed by Billy Hopkins); and The Accidental Pundette by Nancy Giles. They run July 26-Aug. 29.

Series B works are the new musical Love and Real Estate, with music by Sam Davis, book and lyrics by Sean Hartley (directed by Devanand Janki); Neil LaBute's The Furies (directed by Stephen Hamilton); and Paul Rudnick's Cabin Pressure (directed by Walter Bobbie). They will be staged Aug. 2-Sept. 1.

The productions have scenic design by George Xenos, costume design by Michael Bevins and lighting design by Greg MacPherson.
