Suds, the 1960s musical soap opera set in a laundromat, opens officially June 23 at the Oregon Cabaret Theatre. Performances began June 21 for a run through Sept. 4.
In 1963, Suds Wash-O-Rama employee Cindy finds herself in the middle of the worst day of her life. Yes, it's her birthday, but no one remembered, her pen pal boyfriend just broke up with her, and Fluffy her cat got run over. Fortunately, a couple of unexpected visitors are there for her. Suds features a slew of pop hits including "Mr. Postman," "Locomotion," "Respect," "You Can't Hurry Love," "These Boots Were Made for Walking," "Wishin' and Hopin'" and "I Will Follow Him."
Jim Giancarlo directs and choreographs. Suds stars Megan Hilty, Tony James and Megan Oldenburger.
Designing the show are Craig Hudson (sets), Kerri Lea Robbins (costumes), Mica Thomas (lighting) and Frank Sullivan (sound).
