News Sundance Accepting 2009 Theatre Lab Submissions The Sundance Institute Theatre Program is currently accepting submissions of new works for the 2009 Sundance Theatre Lab.

Created as a protected environment where professionals can explore their work far from the eye of critics and commercial pressures, the Sundance Theatre Lab has been the breeding ground for such works as Spring Awakening, Grey Gardens, Well, The Laramie Project, The Good Negro, The Light in the Piazza and Passing Strange. Up to eight works will be accepted from emerging playwrights, composers, directors, choreographers, and artists new to the theatre community. Artists are provided with rehearsal space, artistic guidance, stage management and accommodations for the 20-day lab that runs July 6-26, 2009, at the Sundance Resort in Sundance, UT.

Under the artistic direction of Philip Himberg, the Sundance Theatre Lab also encourages works beyond the traditional text-based projects, including musicals, solo performers, projects for young audiences, dance/theatre pieces and image-based works.

Applications are due Dec. 1, 2008. The application and guidelines are available online at Sundance.org
