Melissa Benoist, known for her leading performance on the CW’s Supergirl, makes her Broadway debut June 7 as Carole King in Beautiful. She’ll play a limited engagement at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre through August 4.

Prior to Supergirl, Benoist appeared on the showtune-laden Glee, playing transfer student Marley Rose. Her additional screen credits include Whiplash and crossover episodes of Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash (including the musical episode “Duet”), and Arrow.

Benoist succeeds longtime Carole King Chilina Kennedy, who first took over the role from Tony winner Jessie Mueller in March 2015. Kennedy is set to appear in the world premiere of This Ain't No Disco at Atlantic Theater Company beginning later this month.

The current company of Beautiful also includes Ben Jacoby as Barry Mann, Jessica Keenan Wynn as Cynthia Weil, Evan Todd as Gerry Goffin, Liz Larsen as Genie Klein, and Paul Anthony Stewart as Don Kirshner.
