The summer season will launch with the Gershwin musical Nice Work If You Can Get It.
Five musicals and two plays will comprise Surflight Theatre's summer season in Beach Haven, New Jersey.
The 2018 summer season will kick off June 12, 2018, with the Gershwin musical Nice Work If You Can Get It. Featuring such Gershwin classics as “Fascinating Rhythm” and “Someone to Watch Over Me,” performances will continue through June 24.
The Wedding Singer, based on the Adam Sandler film of the same name, will begin July 17 and run through August 5. Another film-to-stage musical, Saturday Night Fever, will follow. Featuring many of the disco-era hits by the Bee Gees, performances are scheduled for August 7–26.
Steve Martin and Edie Brickell's Bright Star will make its New Jersey premiere August 28–September 9. The new musical concerns literary editor Alice Murphy, who meets a young soldier just home from World War II who awakens her longing for the child she once lost.
The fast-paced whodunit The 39 Steps will be presented September 12–16, and the season will conclude with the play-with-music Souvenir. Stephen Temperley's comedy about wealthy society eccentric Florence Foster Jenkins, who is vocally challenged, will run September 19–23.
Casting and creative teams will be announced at a later time.
