Singer-actress Susan Egan, who is currently starring in the Sacramento Music Circus production of The Unsinkable Molly Brown through July 28, can also been on The Disney Channel on July 26.

Egan stars in the original movie "Gotta Kick It Up," in which she plays Heather Bartlett, a former dot.com executive turned schoolteacher. Egan's character helps motivate a group of Latina schoolgirls to become a championship dance team. Others in the cast of the made-for-TV Disney film include Camille Guaty, America Ferrera, Miguel Sandoval, Jhoanna Flores, Suilma Rodriguez and Sabrina Wiener. Meghan Cole wrote the script, which was directed by Ramón Menéndez.

Susan Egan received Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations for her work in Beauty and the Beast, and her other theatre credits include Cabaret, Triumph of Love, Putting It Together and Hello Again. It was also recently announced that the performer has been named Interim Artistic Director of California's Orange County High School of the Arts. Egan, who is an alumna of the 15-year-old school, will serve as the artistic director of the Music and Theatre, Film and Television and Production and Design departments. She will take over the position recently vacated by David Green while the school conducts a search for a permanent director. During her time at the school, Egan will be responsible for overseeing the expansion of the arts instructional program, assisting in bringing professional artists to teach and direct, and bringing in renowned artists for special appearances.

"Gotta Kick It Up" will be broadcast at 8 PM on July 26. Encore presentations include July 26 at 9:40 PM, July 27 and 28 at 8 PM and July 31 at 9:10 PM. Go to http://disneychannel.disney.go.com/disneychannel for more information.
