Since October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month, it's an ideal time for Seattle, WA's Group Theatre to present My Left Breast, an autobiographical solo by Susan Miller. Winner of the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize for Best Play Written by a Woman in the English Language, Breast deals with Miller's mastectomy, which she uses "as a metaphor for resilience, demonstrating that life's losses not only define but redeem us." For the record, Miller describes herself as, "a one-breasted, menopausal, Jewish, bisexual lesbian mom."

Nela Wagman directs the piece, as she did at NYC's Wordfire Festival at Watermark Theatre in both 1995 and 1996.

Beginning previews Oct. 11, My Left Breast runs through Nov. 2 at the Group Theatre on Harrison St. For tickets and information call (206) 441-1299.
