Five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman will direct a 25th anniversary concert version of her 1992 hit Broadway musical Crazy for You for a single performance February 19, 2017, at David Geffen Hall (formerly Avery Fisher Hall) at Lincoln Center in New York.
Casting is yet to be announced for the show, which is based on the Gershwin brothers' 1930 musical Girl Crazy, with an updated book by Ken Ludwig and extra songs added from the Gershwin songbook. The performance will be given 25 years to the day from the original Crazy for You opening night. The concert performance of Crazy for You will feature a chorus of more than 200 singers from across the United States, plus the New York City Chamber Orchestra.
Stroman choreographed the original production, which was directed by her late husband, Mike Ockrent. The original production won three 1992 Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Choreography (for Stroman).
The concert is the fifth in Manhattan Concert Productions' Broadway Series, which has included concert performances of Ragtime, Titanic, Parade and The Secret Garden.
Tickets go on sale at 11 AM (ET) June 15 via Lincolncenter.org, by calling CenterCharge (212) 721-6500 or by visiting the David Geffen Hall box office at 10 Lincoln Center Plaza (Columbus Avenue at 65th Street).
