Composer Spotlight
Feb. 12: Though they worked together just 18 years, from 1942 to 1959, Rodgers and Hammerstein established a gold standard for twentieth-century Broadway musicals. Generally upbeat, positive and progressive in their outlook, integrated in structure and grandly melodic in the scores, they were broadly popular in the years during and after World War II. The words "Rodgers and Hammerstein" became a brand representing the best in Broadway musical entertainment. Part 1 of Playbill Radio's Composer's Spotlight will take a closer look at their 1940s shows, from Oklahoma! to South Pacific.
