Signature Theatre kicks off its production of Suzan-Lori Parks’ Red Letter Plays, two plays which re-imagine Nathaniel Hawthorne’s classic novel The Scarlet Letter. The first of the works by the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, Fucking A, begins previews August 22.

Fucking A, directed by Obie Award winner Jo Bonney, is scheduled to run through October 1 in The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre. The story sees Hester Smith, a revered and reviled abortionist, formulate a plan to free her son from prison.
