The team of Diane Paulus (direction) and Randy Weiner (lyrics, book) — of Donkey Show fame — now set their sights on one of opera's most famous stories. Like their disco retelling of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Paulus and Weiner have set out to incorporate arias from other operas into Turandot: The Rumble For The Ring, which is reset in a rock music vein. The cast for Turandot, which runs through Aug. 5, will also include Teal Wicks, Matthew Scott Campbell, Ryan Dunn, Bryce Ryness, Michael Lanning, Don Stephenson, Ray Wills, Billy Kuehnle and Uzo Aduba.
The production will feature musical direction by Roger Butterly with sets by Scott Pask, a 2007 Tony Award winner for his Coast of Utopia designs.
