Champlin, who played a sold-out evening May 8 at the Ars Nova, is returning to the intimate theatre with "more songs, more stories [and] more reasons for my mother to worry."
The singing actress, who plays Pirelli — as well as the accordion, keyboard and flute — in the acclaimed revival of Sweeney Todd, has titled her 8 PM evening Finishing the Hat. Concertgoers can expect to hear Broadway tunes, Irish classics and gospel favorites. The actress, according to press notes, is also "bringing along tales of her most embarrassing moments, and the audience gets to choose which ones they want to hear." Andrew Gerle will be the musical director.
Donna Lynne Champlin has appeared on Broadway in Sweeney Todd, Hollywood Arms, By Jeeves and James Joyce's The Dead. Her other New York theatrical credits include My Life With Albertine, Reunion, Encores!, Bloomer Girl, First Lady Suite, The Audience and Meet John Doe.
