News Sydney M0 Awards for Excellence in Live Entertainment Nominees Announces The MO Awards, a Sydney based awards ceremony recognising excellence in live entertainment, has once again honoured achievement in Australian musical theatre with the announcement of the 1998 nominees. Named after legendary Australian comic the late Roy Mo Rene, the MO awards' categories range from comedy and variety performers to opera and dance. The awards will be presented at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on June 23.

In the musical theatre division the nominees are:

FEMALE MUSICAL THEATRE PERFORMER: Kelley Abbey Sweet Charity, Debra Byrne Sunset Boulevarde, Suzanne Johnstone My Fair Lady, Helen Morse A Little Night Music, Angela Toohey Cabaret

SUPPORTING MUSICAL THEATRE PERFORMER:David Campbell Les Miserables, Tony Harvey Beauty and the Beast, Lisa McCune A Little Night Music, Pamela Rabe A Little Night Music, David Ravenswood My Fair Lady.MUSICAL THEATRE PRODUCTION: Beauty and the Beast, Cabaret, Les Miserables, Sunset Boulevard, My Fair Lady

OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO MUSICAL THEATRE: David Atkins, Ross Coleman, Greg Crease, Roger Kirk, Brian Stacey.

David Campbell and Tap Dogs have also been nominated in the category of Australian Showbusiness Ambassador of the Year, after their highly successful International engagements.
