News Taboo to Begin Previews on Broadway on Oct. 21 The new London musical Taboo will bow on Broadway on Oct. 21 at the Plymouth Theatre. Official opening is Nov. 13.

As reported by Playbill On-Line in March, Boy George — who wrote the musical — will be part of the Broadway cast. Taboo is being imported from London by producer — and former talk show host — Rosie O'Donnell. Charles Busch is supplying an entirely new book for the musical, which concerns the life of George Alan O'Dowd, who is better known as pop star Boy George. Christopher Renshaw directs.

John McDaniel will serve as the musical director, and Mark Dendy, who choreographed the Off-Broadway production of The Wild Party, will choreograph the Broadway mounting of Taboo.

The musical Taboo mixes fact with fiction as it tells a love story against a backdrop of the gallery of characters who helped make the 1980’s London club scene the most exciting in the world. Among these personalities were Steve Strange, Leigh Bowery, Marilyn and Philip Sallon and Boy George himself.
