Stage and screen star and Pittsburgh native Tamara Tunie (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Julius Caesar, Familiar) will play Prospero in the Pittsburgh Public Theater's 2019 production of William Shakespeare's The Tempest.
Adapted and helmed by Artistic Director Marya Sea Kaminski, the production is scheduled for January 24–February 24 at the O'Reilly Theater. Additional casting will be announced later.
Kaminski said in a statement, “In addition to her robust stage experience, Tamara will bring an incredible presence and authority to the role of Prospero. Though Tempest is Shakespeare’s most magical play, this adaptation will also bring a depth of humanity and grace that is a trademark of all Tamara’s work.”
The Max Martin musical features a number of his most beloved songs, including “…Baby One More Time,” “Roar,” “Since U Been Gone,” “It’s My Life,” “I Want It That Way,” “Can’t Stop the Feeling!,” and more.
