The play revolves around a character called Hilary (Greig), a mother, a wife, and fifty, who once protested at Greenham (a American defense facility based in Britain). Now her protests tend to focus on persuading her teenage daughter to go out fully clothed. Mackichan will play Hilary’s best friend Francis. According to press materials, the play is a "family drama questioning parental anxieties and life after fifty."
Nina Raine directs a cast that also includes Seline Hizli, Richard Lintern, Michael Marcus, James Musgrave, Bel Powley, Ewan Stewart and Sarah Woodward.
Greig was last seen in the West End in The Little Dog Laughed. She won both the Olivier and Critics’ Circle Awards for her performance as Beatrice in the RSC’s Much Ado About Nothing. Other stage credits include David Hare’s Gethesemane at the National and the original cast of Yasmina Reza’s The God of Carnage in the West End.
Mackichan last appeared at the Royal Court in The Queen and I. Other theatre credits include The Government Inspector and Boeing Boeing in the West End.
