Classic Arts News Tanglewood Campus Damaged by Windstorm The Tanglewood Music Center sustained up to $250,000 in damages after hurricane-force winds hit its campus in Lenox, Massachusetts earlier this month, reports the Associated Press.
Dave Sturma, director of Tanglewood facilities for the Boston Symphony Orchestra (which owns the center and performs there during the summer), said it might take weeks or months for the debris to be cleared. Three hundred trees have fallen; there is minor damage to the roof of the Tanglewood mansion (which once belonged to conductor Serge Koussevitzky, then the Boston Symphony's music director) and worse damage to the carriage house, according to the AP.

In addition, repairs to the electrical system will reportedly cost $100,000.

The cleanup will be finished before the Tanglewood season begins next June, Sturma said.
