News Tappin’ Through Life, An Evening with Maurice Hines to Play NYC Amas Musical Theatre will host a benefit performance of Tappin’ Through Life, An Evening with Maurice Hines March 1 at the Baruch Performing Arts Center.

Tony nominee Hines (Guys and Dolls, Eubie!), according to press notes, will pay "tribute to the singers who have been an inspiration throughout his life, including Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Joe Williams, and Lena Horne." The 7 PM performance will feature the Amas Academy Teens and the Diva Orchestra. Proceeds will benefit Amas' theatre and education programs.

Hines earned a 1986 Best Actor Tony nomination for Uptown… It's Hot! His numerous stage credits include Bring Back Birdie, Sophisticated Ladies, The Girl in Pink Tights and Guys and Dolls. He conceived, directed and choreographed the 2006 Earth, Wind and Fire musical Hot Feet.
