"Johnny & the Sprites" — a five-minute program starring and executive produced by the actor — will debut that evening at 7:25 PM ET. The program follows the premiere of "Little Einsteins." "Sprites" will be expanded into a 30-minute series sometime in 2006, and the five-minute version will begin airing daily at 8:25 AM ET on Monday, Oct. 10.
The show follows Johnny T (Tartaglia) as he moves into an extraordinary tree house left to him by his late uncle. There he meets a group of magical beings known as Sprites, who take Johnny into their special world. Johnny T returns the favor by showing the Sprites what it means to be human. Each episode features a musical number.
John Tartaglia made his Broadway debut in Avenue Q. He received a Tony nomination, a Theatre World Award and the Clarence Derwent Award for that performance. Tartaglia was also seen in the Empty-Handed concerts at the Lucille Lortel Theatre and has performed solo evenings at the Ars Nova and Joe's Pub.
