Directed by Tony winner Phylicia Rashad, the production continues through Feb. 9 on the Berlind Theatre Stage. Opening is Jan. 17 at 8 PM.
The cast comprises Taylor Dior (Raynell), Phil McGlaston (Jim Bono), Jared McNeill (Lyons), Chris Myers (Corey), Portia (Rose), Esau Pritchett (Troy Maxson) and G. Alvarez Reid (Gabriel)
"Struggling to provide for his family as a garbageman in 1950s Pittsburgh," press notes state, "Troy Maxson (Esau Pritchett) spends time on his front porch spinning tales of his days as a star baseball player in the Negro Leagues. Due to the color barrier in Major League Baseball before Jackie Robinson, Troy is now past his prime and his opportunity at a baseball career has faded. Seeking to contain his bitterness, Troy lives in a world where life's daily battles take on the scope of epic conflict and small decisions can have long-lasting consequences."
The production also features scenic design by John Iacovelli, costume design by ESOSA, lighting design by Xavier Pierce, sound design by John Gromada, hair and wig design by Rob Green and J. Jared Janas and fight direction by Michael Rossmy.
