David Henry Hwang's Golden Child and Jon Robin Baitz's Mizlansky/Zilinsky or schmucks, two of the highlights of the 1997- 98 New York theatre season, have just been published by Theatre Communications Group. Golden Child played on Broadway in the spring of 1998, earning a Tony nomination for best play. The year before, it won an OBIE Award. The play tells of a man's break with Confucian tradition and its impact of his three wives and subsequent generations.

Like Golden Child, Mizlansky/Zilinsky is partially autobiographical, drawing on Baitz's experiences working for an unscrupulous Hollywood producer and scam artist. The play opened in New York at Manhattan Theatre Club, with Nathan Lane and Lewis J. Stadlen in the title roles.
