News TDF to Give Away Costumes to Not-for-Profits Sept. 12 Not-for-profit theatre and dance companies in need of beefing up their costume departments will want to head to the Theatre Development Fund's Costume Collection in Chelsea on Sept. 12. On that day, TDF will be giving away dozens of frocks and suits to make space for a new crop of clothing donations.

"During this past year we've received some fantastic and generous donations of new costumes for the collection, for which we have had to make room," said TDF Costume Collection Director, Greg Poplyk in a statement. "As a result, we can offer not-for-profit organizations who produce shows the opportunity to add some terrific costumes to their inventory." Schools, community groups, churches and museums are also welcome. Doors will open at 10 AM and will remain open until all the costumes, hats and shoes are gone! Interested parties should call Caroline at (212) 989-5855 for a reservation during regular business hours. The TDF Costume Collection is located at 601 W. 26th St., 17th floor.

The TDF Costume Collection houses more than 85,000 professional quality costumes and accessories.  Much of the inventory is contributed directly by Broadway, Off Broadway and touring shows, opera companies, such as the Metropolitan Opera and New York City Opera, and individual costume designers and performers.
