Sweet and Sour Tears: A Heartachin' Thrance will have its world premiere at the Sacred Fools Theatre in Hollywood on May 23 and will continue Tuesday nights through June 13. Thrance is a combination of theatre and dance created by actor-choreographer Jessica Schroeder. She founded the Outlaw Style Thrance Company in Massachusetts in 1987, performing in the Boston and Cambridge areas for several years. Her previous works include Marry Me, You Dick: A Detective Thrance; Draw! Dance! And Die!: A Western Thrance' and The Curse of the Post- mortem Mambo--A Horror Thrance.
Sweet and Sour was inspired by a Ray Charles album and his music is used with permission. "Charles' music is perfect for Thrance," said Schroder. "His album "Sweet and Sour Tears" voices so many ways to feel sadness and react to rejection, from heart-wrenching to angry, from somewhat silly to downright pathetic."
Schroeder has been performing solo dances at Sacred Fools during the past year on monthly open-stage nights. She recently appeared in The Brides at Sacred Fools.
Others in the Sweet and Sour cast include Aldrich Allen, Tina Ballabio, Kirstin Burbank and Alisa Steel, among others.
