The city of Buenos Aires shut down the theater last month after a series of strikes by workers. The union has now pledged not to stage surprise strikes as negotiations over salary and working conditions continue.

The theater will reopen with a performance by the UBS Verbier Festival Orchestra, led by Jir‹ Belohlšvek. Opera will return with a performance of Strauss's Capriccio, led by Teatro Col‹n music director Stefan Lano, on December 2.

Some upcoming performances, including those of Puccini's Turandot and Tchaikovsky's ballet The Nutcracker, have been canceled because there is not enough time to complete the sets, according to Clar‹n.com.
