Telly Leung, who is returning to Broadway's In Transit January 31 after a leave of absence, will join the cast of the musical Aladdin in the title role, sources told Playbill.com. Adam Jacobs has played Aladdin on Broadway since the show first opened in 2014.

A spokesperson for producer Disney Theatricals declined to comment on the report. The date of Leung's arrival in the Disney hit was not announced.

Leung, who had a featured role on the TV series Glee, made his Broadway debut in the 2002 revival of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Flower Drum Song. He appeared in the 2011 revival of Godspell, and was featured opposite George Takei in his 2015 Broadway musical Allegiance.

Leung returned to Broadway in December 2016 with the musical In Transit. It was announced this week that he is departing the show “due to an unexpected personal family obligation.” In Transit opened December 11.

The source said his departure from In Transit is not related to the Aladdin move.
