Tesori expressed her ambition at a recent press preview for Caroline, or Change, her new musical collaboration with Tony Kushner, which will begin previews at the Public Theater on Oct. 28. "I've written three video sequels for Disney—`Lilo and Stitch II,' `Mulan II,' and `The Emperor's New Groove II.'" said Tesori. "I've loved the process. I'd like to take the next year off an concentrate on a movie."

Among Tesori's other Disney projects is Hoopz, the stage musical about the Harlem Globetrotters, for which Suzan-Lori Parks is writing the libretto.

As for her next project with Millie collaborator Dick Scanlan, the duo are still waiting out a rights issue. In 2002, Scanlan said, "I can't say yet, because there are underlying rights. It's based on something so obscure that even if I told you what it was, the odds that you would know it are slim." As of Oct. 2, 2003, Tesori said they were still trying to secure the rights to the story.
