Though producers of the Wynn run have not officially billed the production as a fresh look at Come Fly Away, Playbill.com has learned that the Las Vegas engagement will be a streamlined 80-minute adaptation of the Broadway dance musical and will be performed without an intermission. Tharp has re-explored the piece to offer new moments specifically for Las Vegas audiences.
Sinatra Dance With Me includes the same Broadway creative team as Come Fly Away and also follows the tale of four couples falling in and out of love in a smokey, music-filled nightclub.
Sinatra Dance With Me, conceived, choreographed and directed by Tharp, will also feature a 17-piece live band accompanying the original masters of Sinatra's hits. The show includes original arrangements by Nelson Riddle, Billy May and Quincy Jones, as well as newly created arrangements for the production.
Casting has not been revealed for the Wynn run, which will feature a company of 14 dancers.
The Wynn production will feature designs by set designer James Youmans, lighting designer Donald Holder, costume designer Katherine Rothand and sound designer Peter McBoyle. The two-act dance musical Come Fly Away debuted on Broadway in March 2010, where it ran for 213 performances through Sept. 5. A national tour, which is separate from the Las Vegas incarnation, will launch May 2011 in Chicago.
Sinatra Dance With Me will debut in Las Vegas just in time to commemorate Sinatra's 95th birthday on Dec. 12 and is scheduled to run through Jan. 29, 2011, in the Encore Theatre.
Tickets are $69 and $89. Performances will run Monday-Saturday at 7:30 PM. Visit WynnLasVegas, or phone (888) 320-7110.
