Written by Seth Fisher (Rock 'n' Roll, Julius Caesar), the motion picture is scheduled to begin filming in New York in June. Fisher will also direct.
"Passing Harold Blumenthal," according to press notes, tells the "comic tale of fictional playwright Harold Blumenthal who, after succumbing to cardiac arrest while laughing at his own joke, leaves his estranged family to sort out their lives."
The film will be produced by Alexander Cendese (A View From the Bridge) and Nicole Ansari (Rock 'n' Roll).
Brian Cox has also been seen on Broadway in Rock 'n' Roll, Art and Strange Interlude.
