News That's Your Q: Broadway Musical Avenue Q Offers Fans Shot at Commercial Broadway's Avenue Q is out to disprove its own lyric "The Internet is for Porn" as the musical is offering a chance for fans, artists and all to submit a 30-second video spot —or Q-mmercial—that could be used in the next official advertising campaign.

"Are you handy with a camera?" poses the show's website, asking for a "30 second spot in the style of your choice, that captures the essence of Avenue Q." The site provides Q artwork and song clips that can be used for the videos which will be reviewed and judged.

Contestants are then asked to post their videos through online video sharing sites YouTube.com or EyeSpot.com and submit links to their spots via the online form at avenueq.com/qmmercial.php.

Submissions will be accepted through Sept. 1. The official Q-mmercial winner will be selected the third week of September.

Avenue Q sends up popular children's television shows such as "Sesame Street" and "The Electric Company," while serving up a bounty of pop culture references and solving the mystery of the whereabouts of former "Diff'rent Strokes" child star Gary Coleman. The production bears the warning: "Full puppet nudity, not suitable for children." The current cast features original stars Rick Lyon and Jennifer Barnhart with Mary Faber, Howie Michael Smith, Evan Harrington, Ann Sanders and Haneefah Wood. Jonathan Root and Matt Schreiber are in the ensemble.

The show's creators Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx earned a Tony for their score as did bookwriter Jeff Whitty and the musical itself garnered the top Best Musical prize at the 2004 Tony Awards.
