The 1998 Tony Awards for excellence in the Broadway theatre will be given on Sunday, June 7, it was confirmed by Tony spokesman Kevin Rehac.The awards ceremony will be broadcast on CBS-TV starting at 9 PM (ET).
The cut-off date by which shows must open to qualify is Wednesday April 29 this year. Nominations will be announced Monday, May 4.
No venue or host have been chosen, and Rehac said no meeting date has yet been set for the Tony committee to choose them. The 1997 Tonys were hosted by Rosie O'Donnell at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
