News The Awesome 80s Prom Will End Nine-Year Off-Broadway Run in November The Awesome 80s Prom, the immersive theatrical event that invites theatregoers to prom night, will end its nine-year Off-Broadway run this November at The Wall, producers announced Sept. 16.

Due to a programming change at The Wall, which will now focus more on live music rather than Off-Broadway entertainment, The Awesome 80s Prom will conclude its NYC run Nov. 2.

"The Awesome 80s Prom was my first show in New York, and I couldn't be more proud of our awesome run," said producer Ken Davenport in a statement. "I'm so thankful to the hundreds of performers and the thousands of audience members who moonwalked with us over the years. To quote one of my favorite 80s tunes, 'I've had the time of my life.' We're still hopeful that we'll find another NYC venue and will be able to reopen soon. But in the meantime, I'm going to start working on The Phat 90s Prom."

Throughout its record-breaking run as Off-Broadway's second longest-running interactive show, more than 160,000 wine coolers were served, more than 300,000 packs of Pop Rocks were consumed and over 700,000 attempts at "The Worm" were tried by folks attending the Prom.

The Awesome 80s Prom, according to press notes, "is the acclaimed interactive experience in the style of Tony 'n' Tina's Wedding and The Donkey Show set at the Wanaget High's Senior Prom...in 1989! All your favorite characters from your favorite '80s movies are at The Prom, from the Captain of the Football Team to the Asian Exchange Student, from the Geek to the hottie Head Cheerleader, and they're all competing for Prom King and Queen."

The audience decides who takes home the title of Prom King and Queen, while retro hits, including "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go!," play in the background. The final Off-Broadway cast includes Andy Arena, Andrea Biggs, Farah Brook, Chris Cafero, Brad Giovanine, Paige Grimard, Anderson Lim, Brandon Marotta, Tom McVey, Joanne Nosuchinsky, Howard Pinhasik, Jessica West Regan, Kate Riley, Lauren Schafler, Zachary Sciranka and Marshall Stratton.

The Awesome 80s Prom was conceived and directed by Davenport and written by Davenport and "The Class of 1989," a group of performers including Sheila Berezan, Alex Back, Adam Bloom, Anne Bobby, Courtney Balan, Nicole Cicchella, Mary Faber, Stephen Guarino, Jeff Hiller, Emily McNamara, Troy Metcalf, Jenna Pace, Amanda Ryan Paige, Brian Peterson, Jessica West Regan, Kathy Searle, Mark Shunock, Josh Walden, Noah Weisberg, Brandon Williams, Simon Wong and Fletcher Young.

The Awesome 80s Prom has also been produced in Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Baltimore and, as licensed by Samuel French Inc., has been performed in countless high schools around the country.

Performances are offered every Saturday evening at 8 PM. The Wall is located at 251 West 30th Street. For more information and tickets, call (877) 723-7766 or visit Awesome80sProm.com.
