Based on the screenplay by Eran Kolirin, The Band’s Visit features a book by Drama Desk Award nominee Moses and music and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Yazbek. The show is directed by David Cromer and began performances November 11, for an extended engagement now scheduled to play through January 1, 2017, at Atlantic’s Linda Gross Theater.

The cast also includes George Abud, Bill Army, Erik Liberman, Andrew Polk, Rachel Prather, Jonathan Raviv, Sharone Sayegh, Kristen Sieh, Ari’el Stachel, Daniel David Stewart, and Alok Tewari. The Band’s Visit features choreography by Patrick McCollum and movement by Lee Sher.

The new musical follows the story of an Egyptian police band that arrives in Israel to play a concert. When a mix-up at the border leaves them stranded with no bus or hotel in sight, these unlikely travelers must seek the help of the locals. “Under the spell of the desert sky, their lives become intertwined in the most unexpected ways,“ state Atlantic Theater production notes.

The production features scenic design by Scott Pask, costume design by Sarah Laux, lighting design by Tyler Micoleau, sound design by Clive Goodwin, music direction by Andrea Grody, and casting by Tara Rubin Casting. Mourna R’miki is the dialect coach.
