News The Beebo Brinker Chronicles to Make Off-Broadway Return at 37 Arts Kate Moira Ryan and Linda S. Chapman's recent Off-Broadway show The Beebo Brinker Chronicles will return to the New York stage for a limited run at 37 Arts.

Leigh Silverman (Well) directs the stage adaptation of Ann Bannon's 1950's and 60's lesbian pulp novels, which will begin performances Feb. 19, 2008, and open March 5, according to the show's website. The new run is currently on sale through June 1. Production spokespersons could not confirm details at press time.

Following an extended run at The Fourth Street Theatre, producer Harriet Newman Leve (Coram Boy, The Lieutenant of Inishmore and the upcoming The 39 Steps) plans to present the show at the new Off-Broadway space with Elyse Singer and Jamie deRoy as co-producers. (Singer is artistic director of the Hourglass Group, who produced the previous run.)

Penned by Ryan (25 Questions for a Jewish Mother) and Chapman (Gertrude and Alice: A Likeness to Loving), the pre-Stonewall Greenwich Village-set work "follows the lives and loves of Laura, Beth and Beebo as they navigate uncharted territories of desire," according to an announcement. Former secret lovers in college, Laura and Beth went on to completely disparate lives — one got married and had children, the other moved to New York. "Both pine for each other, but before they can reunite, they find themselves entangled in the web of Beebo Brinker, a butch denizen of the bars with a soft spot for young lesbians fresh off the bus."

Marin Ireland (The Ruby Sunrise) and David Greenspan (Some Men) were featured in the previous cast that also included Carolyn Baeumler (Trouble in Paradise), Autumn Dornfeld (The Graduate) and Anna Foss Wilson (Anon). Casting for the 37 Arts run has yet to be announced.

The design team featured Rachel Hauck (set), Theresa Squire (costumes), Nicole Pearce (lights) and Jill BC DuBoff (sound). Tickets to The Beebo Brinker Chronicles at 37 Arts, 450 West 37th Street (between Ninth and Tenth Ave.), are available by calling (212) 307-4100 or online at beebobrinker.com.
