News The Bikinis, Pop Musical About a Girl Group, Will Twist Into Goodspeed's Season This Summer Goodspeed Musicals has stuffed The Bikinis — a musical bursting with pop standards from the '60s and '70s — to its 2012 season at the Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, CT. The Terris is where Goodspeed tests new musicals.

Performances of this concoction conceived and written by Ray Roderick and James Hindman, with direction and choreography by Roderick, play Aug. 9-Sept. 2. Goodspeed announced the title on its Facebook page and Twitter account on April 25.

Casting will be announced. Here's how the two-time Tony Award-winning company bills The Bikinis, which was seen in an earlier 2010 production by ReVision Theatre in Asbury Park, NJ: "Back together again! The sixties girl group that everyone loves is bringing back the sun, fun and all the great songs they sang on the boardwalk at the Jersey Shore...all to raise money to save Sandy Shores Mobile Home Beach Resort. These Jersey Girls relive their heyday in a non-stop celebration of song."

Expect more than 30 hits, including "Yellow Polka Dot Bikini," "Heat Wave" and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough."

Roderick directed Goodspeed Opera House productions of Mame (now playing), Singin' in the Rain, My One and Only and 42nd Street and last year's Tin Pan Alley-flavored Hello! My Baby at The Norma Terris Theatre. He also co-conceived, directed and choreographed the national tour of Irving Berlin's I Love a Piano. Hindman has acted in several Broadway hits including Mary Poppins, 1776 and City of Angels.

Music arrangements are by Joseph Baker with additional music and lyrics by Joseph Baker and Ray Roderick. The Norma Terris Theatre is located at 33 North Main Street in Chester. Subscriptions and single tickets are on sale now. For more information call the Goodspeed Box Office at (860) 873-8668 or visit goodspeed.org.
